Changelog

What changed, and why we changed it.

  1. v1.4 · 26 Sep 2026

Physical module and honest ΔE reporting

What: Added mixing recipes for six media. Recipes now display their estimated ΔE error.

Why: Early testers trusted recipes too much. A percentage list looks precise even when the target is outside the medium's gamut; showing ΔE sets correct expectations.

  2. v1.3 · 12 Sep 2026

    Drift detection in System

What: Each role now stores an approved spec value separately from its working value. Differences are flagged, and usage tags highlight affected components.

Why: The most common question in design-system reviews is 'is this the real brand color?'. Separating spec from working state answers it without a meeting.

  3. v1.2 · 20 Aug 2026

    Remediation that only moves lightness

What: Accessibility remediation now adjusts lightness while holding hue fixed.

Why: Our first version also shifted saturation, which fixed contrast but often made brand colors unrecognizable. Hue carries identity; lightness carries contrast.

  4. v1.1 · 30 Jul 2026

    Timeline interpolates in LCh

What: Gradients between waypoints are computed in LCh rather than RGB.

Why: RGB interpolation between complementary colors passes through grey mud. LCh keeps transitions luminous and closer to how painters would blend.

  5. v1.0 · 1 Jul 2026

    Public launch

What: Generator, Preview, System, Extractor, Accessibility and Library, plus the first six Learn articles.

Why: We launched with editorial content alongside the tools because we believe the reasoning is as valuable as the output.
